NCL STARTS DRIP IRRIGATION ON ITS

Northern Coalfields Limited in a new environmental conservation effort
has started a pilot project of drip irrigation system on the overburden
dump slopes of its largest OCP Nigahi, to encourage growth of
vegetation.
The gravity-based micro-irrigation system was planned by NCL to
conserve water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the
roots of plants. Plant species adapted for this project are as per the local
environmental conditions of the Nigahi region so that local flora remains
unchanged.
